Underwood V is a registered Michigan non-profit looking to bring community radio to the Woodward area.
We've received authority from the FCC to broadcast on 100.7 FM in Ferndale, and would like to support the city and community! |
In 2011, President Obama signed into law the Local Community Radio Act. This act allows for FM radio bands to be allocated to non-profit organizations with intent to create community-based programming. Certification for new low-power FM stations have only occurred a few times since 1978. Underwood V's goal is to secure an FM license to provide a radio service for one or more of the Woodward Five communities. Once a FM license is received it can be maintained indefinitely. The last application window expired in October 2013. The good news is that Underwood V has taken the necessary steps to apply for a new license in the community. Now, support from the Woodward Five communities is crucial in founding a studio and creation of outreach programs benefiting the surrounding area. View our plan to see how you can help, our current goals, and future vision for radio in the Woodward Five area. The next opportunity to found a new community radio station may be years or decades away.
